ABOUT US
House Five is an interior design studio based in the Netherlands, founded by Titia Cortlever and Ellen Schot. The studio works on private residences and hospitality projects, creating interiors where atmosphere, proportion and materiality are carefully considered.
We both come from a design-driven background and have built their practice through years of experience in residential and hospitality contexts. Our approach is shaped by a strong sensitivity to space, colour and composition, as well as a hands-on understanding of how interiors are used, lived in and evolve over time.
We design from the inside out. Each project begins with the existing architecture, its rhythm, light and constraints, allowing the interior to grow in dialogue with the structure rather than compete with it. Layout, sightlines and material choices are developed with clarity and restraint, forming a calm architectural base.
Our aesthetic is timeless and layered. Natural materials, muted palettes and bespoke elements are combined with carefully selected furniture and art, creating spaces that feel both composed and personal. Rather than following trends, House Five focuses on longevity and balance.
Collaboration is central to the studio’s process. House Five works closely with clients, architects, craftsmen and artists to translate ideas into coherent interiors, paying close attention to detail and execution. The result is interiors with quiet confidence—spaces that feel thoughtful, grounded and refined, and that gain depth through use and time.
